Come see my live talk on late Victorian capitalism and social murder: April 23rd, in the Calton.
A critically informed public lecture on how capitalism killed in late Victorian Glasgow.
Sunday 23rd of April at Red Rosa's in the Calton (195 London Road) - hopefully a date and venue you can stick in your diary. Afterall, it would be good to see the folk who support me and my research as I put it on display for the first time in a live public lecture. Hopefully, my years of experience in the university and college classroom will stand me in good stead!
The attached advert reveals all of course, but simply put, I'll be showcasing some of my primary research by way of family history case study and use this to explore the concept of social murder as posited by Friedrich Engels in 1845.
Expect a Marxist critique of late 19th and early 20thC capitalist Glasgow in an intimate setting of no more than forty folk. In addition, you'll encounter some of my as yet unseen social history and genealogy research. If you like, you can also take home some tangible content in the form of selected primary source reading and a copy of the slides that I'll use to aid the talk.
All for a £5r, all in the Calton, and all for the greater socialist good.
